Serving the Cowichan Valley Regional District
About Duncan Septic Systems
Duncan Septic Systems is a local septic contractor working across Duncan, Cobble Hill, Shawnigan Lake, and Mill Bay. We install, repair, pump, and inspect septic systems. We design and install Type 1 and Type 2 systems ourselves, with our ROWP-registered installers filing each one with Island Health under BC's Sewerage System Regulation. Where a lot needs a Type 3, an engineer draws it and we build it. Assessments are free and new systems start around $15,000.
What we do
We design and install Type 1 and Type 2 septic systems for Cowichan Valley property owners, and our installers are ROWP-registered. We repair, pump and inspect systems of any type. We match the system to your soil, price the work straightforwardly, and file and certify every install we complete.
Local knowledge
We've dug in the heavy clay of the valley floor, the wet ground near the Cowichan and Koksilah rivers, and the sensitive shorelines at Shawnigan Lake and Cowichan Bay. Those conditions tell us whether your lot can take a plain tank and field or needs a treatment system, and how far the field has to sit from your well.
Standards and compliance
In BC, a septic system must be designed, installed, and filed with Island Health by an Authorized Person — a Registered Onsite Wastewater Practitioner (ROWP) or a Professional. Our Type 1 and Type 2 installs are designed and filed by a ROWP-registered Authorized Person on our crew, who issues the Letter of Certification that makes the system legal to use. For Type 3 systems, a Professional such as an engineer or geoscientist handles the design, and we install to their plans.
